Wishing you the best for 2024

Editor's comment January 2024.

Hello lovely readers! Happy New Year to each and every one of you, I wish you all the best for 2024.

The sector is expecting some big changes this year with the introduction of the Pharmacy First Service in England - as you will have read about in our front cover story. We aim to support your understanding of the service and the changes it may bring, starting with our CPD module 30 that takes a look at the first of seven conditions: sore throat.

What I would like to stress is that community pharmacy teams have already been providing their communities with such advice and support to a high level already. Now, this 'formal' service and tie to the NHS will be a big change, maybe a relatively slow one too. But I hope most importantly a positive and exciting one. Time will tell.

I'm delighted to announce that entries and nominations for the annual Recognition of Excellence Awards 2024 will open at the end of the month so I implore you to get involved! You can find out more about last year's awards at: roeawards.co.uk and keep an eye out on that webpage for updates to #RoE24. There will be many ways to get your and your colleagues' hard work recognised.

Also in the issue this month, we have a somewhat chilling Public Eye feature that discusses the uninvited diseases making their way to the UK... and we explore the under recognised B12 deficiency in our Supplements feature. Enjoy!

But I hope most importantly a positive and exciting one. Time will tell.
